Overview

About My Sport Jobs

My Sport Jobs is all in one platform aiding racquet sports players and facilities in finding and hiring talent. Converting from paper hiring to a platform.

My role

I partnered with the My Sport Jobs founders to develop a hiring platform, using market research to identify and address user pain points. My design iterations streamlined the hiring process for both international and US workers seeking racquet sports positions, resulting in a 90% increase in applications and a 100% increase in application processing efficiency for facility directors.

Goal

Streamline existing hiring process done manually on paper to an electronic platform in order to streamline the hiring process and connect candidates with employers/directors more seamlessly.

Research

Insights

I conducted user research to understand users' need, motivation and challenges, gathering more insights that would improve the users experience:

What would motivate you to use this platform over another job board site?

Users would be inclined to use the platform if it allows for profile customization, in platform application tracking, and connection with facility directors and candidates.

What features would add value to you as an employer or job seeker?

Users report that features such as video integration, application tracking, profile customization and all-in-one platform application and hiring process would add value.

How often do you see yourself applying to racquet sport positions?

Candidate users state that they would likely apply to these positions annually or bi-annually depending on their work status or academics.

What would deter you from using a platform when applying or listing jobs?

Users reported that clunky interfaces, confusing user flows and a lack of job listings would deter them from using a platform. Additional deterrents mentioned were lack of hiring management capabilities and high costs.

Analysis

With an increase in job board sites and new technologies job seeker were more inclined to transition to electronic means for job searching than employers for finding talent.

Personas

Ideation

Solution

After synthesizing user input, and research with the My Sport Jobs team we explored different solutions and feature requirements to meet user needs and business goals.

We decided to use a top-down approach to define and ensure the platform structure meets of 4 distinct types of requirements: ensure goals are met, meet stakeholder needs, determine core functionalities, create interface.

Goals

Users want a comprehensive and user-friendly online platform that connects job seekers with employers in the racquet sports industry

Stakeholder Needs

Users want seamless application listing and applying management, easy position filtering, hiring management and skill matching.

Core Functions

Include job posting management, search and filtering capabilities, account management, location based search, sport specifying, and category filtering.

Interface Creation

Create wireframes and mockups of the platform's layout, ensure a clean and intuitive design, optimize for mobile devices, plan user flows for key tasks.

User Flow

User flow creation was pivotal in this project, enabling us to visualize and optimize the user's journey through the application. By mapping each step, it allowed me to identify potential pain points and ensured a seamless, intuitive experience.

User Journey

Wires

Wireframing

The wire-framing phase focused on establishing the core structure and functionality of My Sport Jobs platform. Following a low-fidelity approach, utilizing tools such a Figma, allowed for rapid iteration on layouts and user flows. Key activities included:

Defining Core User Flows

A comprehensive analysis of critical user flows was conducted, specifically detailing onboarding sequences, profile creation and modification, application submission and review processes (for both user and administrative roles), and payment transaction pathways, to identify and address potential usability challenges.

Content Prioritization

Wireframes facilitated the strategic placement of content, ensuring essential information was readily accessible and aligned with user goals.

Layout Exploration

I experimented with various layout options to optimize information hierarchy and create a clear, intuitive interface.

Iterative Refinement

Through collaborative reviews with stakeholders I iteratively refined the wireframes, ensuring alignment with user needs and project objectives

Candidate

The candidate portal acts as a job board, application management and profile management tool for racquet sports community members to find jobs and roles.
